ENRX is a global industrial technology company developing, manufacturing and servicing induction-based solutions for customers worldwide. With 1,150 employees across 20 locations in 19 countries, the company operates in a complex international environment with multiple production sites and a distributed value chain.
Much of ENRX’s growth has come through acquisitions, resulting in a fragmented system landscape with multiple ERP systems across the organisation. As a global manufacturing group combining engineering, production and service, this created challenges related to standardisation, data quality and operational efficiency.
To address this, ENRX is now undertaking a comprehensive cloud ERP transformation, supported by Mazeppa.
For several years, ENRX has used Infor ERP across parts of its European operations. As the company continued to grow, the need for a more unified and scalable solution became increasingly clear.
“Infor is the most widely used ERP system within ENRX. Transitioning Infor to the cloud is part of a larger initiative to streamline operations by harmonising and standardising practices across ENRX companies,” says CIO Trygve Kristoffer Nilssen.
The goal is to establish a common ERP platform across the group, enabling consistent processes, shared master data and improved collaboration between companies and locations.
By moving to a cloud-based ERP solution, ENRX will also reduce the need to maintain its own infrastructure, while gaining access to a platform managed by Amazon Web Services (AWS), providing security, scalability and reliability.
To support the implementation, ENRX selected Mazeppa as its ERP partner.
“We chose Mazeppa because of their strong expertise in Infor LN and their experience from similar industrial environments. They understand our business and help ensure that we make the right decisions in a complex project,” says Nilssen.
ENRX expects its current on-premises ERP solution to reach end-of-life within a few years. Rather than delaying the transition, the company has chosen to act proactively.
“Don’t wait for end-of-life,” Nilssen advises.
According to Mazeppa, postponing such a transition increases both complexity and risk over time.
“It’s never the ‘right time’ to start a project like this, but delaying the move to the cloud will only increase the gap in functionality and security,” says Aage Ramstad, CEO of Mazeppa.
He emphasizes that over time, this gap becomes more difficult to close. As systems approach end-of-life, companies risk operating without access to updates, improvements and modern capabilities. At the same time, the scope of a future transition grows as new companies and processes are added to the existing system landscape.
In the worst case, organisations are forced into a large-scale ERP transformation at a less favourable time, with greater urgency, higher complexity and increased operational risk.
ENRX has chosen Infor CloudSuite Industrial Enterprise, a standardised, multi-tenant cloud ERP solution designed for manufacturing companies.
The solution includes pre-configured functionality tailored to industrial operations, with security, stability and performance managed through a global cloud infrastructure.
“This provides ENRX with confidence that the pre-configured settings are always relevant. With a service provider like Amazon Web Services behind them, they ensure an end-to-end solution that meets stringent requirements for security, reliability and stability,” says Ramstad.
By adopting a standard ERP solution rather than custom-built systems, ENRX aims to reduce complexity, lower risk and ensure continuous access to new functionality.
“From the beginning, ENRX's strategy has been to invest in a standard ERP solution, and the Norwegian industry should learn from this. You have to be exceptional if your needs are not met by a modern, standard ERP solution,” says Ramstad.
At the same time, moving to cloud ERP requires new ways of working.
“This means that we must work differently to realise the benefits, both through continuous improvement and by unlocking new opportunities related to machine learning and AI-based applications,” says Nilssen.
“As we move into a purely cloud-based existence, the era of large, resource-intensive, and risky ERP upgrades will be behind us,” he concludes.
