Can an ERP system contribute to better fish welfare?
That is one of the ambitions behind AKVA Group’s decision to implement Infor CloudSuite.
AKVA Group is a leading global provider of solutions and services to the aquaculture industry, delivering everything from components to complete installations for both sea-based and land-based fish farming. With approximately 1,500 employees across 11 countries, the company operates in a complex, international environment with high demands for coordination, traceability and operational control.
As a technology and system provider to the aquaculture industry, AKVA Group combines engineering, production and service across a global value chain.
In recent years, AKVA Group has grown through acquisitions, strengthening its position in the market but also increasing internal complexity.
At the same time, this has meant we have multiple ERP systems in the group, which makes business-critical processes less efficient, says CFO Ronny Meinkøhn.
To address this, the company conducted a thorough evaluation of several ERP suppliers before selecting Infor CloudSuite as its new platform.
Infor presented the best solution proposal with a platform for digitization, which also covers our needs and requirements for security and stability, Meinkøhn explains.
The goal was to replace fragmented system landscapes with a unified, cloud-based ERP platform that supports global operations and standardised processes.
AKVA Group will use the cloud-based ERP platform to connect engineering processes, improve customer configuration and quoting, and optimize operations across the supply chain, production and delivery.
This is particularly important in aquaculture, where complex equipment, project deliveries and service operations must be closely coordinated.
More than 90% of AKVA Group's business processes are covered as standard in Infor CloudSuite Industrial Enterprise. The remaining needs are addressed through built-in integration tools and extensions.
The result of our preliminary project showed that this means a more efficient implementation and lower risk when most of the solution can largely be adopted out of the box, says Erlend Skaar-Olsen, Infor country manager for Norway.
Mazeppa supported AKVA Group throughout the implementation process, ensuring that the solution is configured and deployed in line with the company’s operational needs.
We are impressed by the unified and determined execution of the strategy to implement a standard best-of-breed solution that AKVA Group is supporting, says Christian Geirahn, LN Consulting Director at Mazeppa.
A key principle in the project has been to adopt standard functionality wherever possible, reducing complexity and enabling a more scalable and future-proof ERP setup.
AKVA Group expects the new ERP system to improve internal collaboration, streamline business processes and increase delivery precision.
We have clear expectations that this will help us improve interaction and business flow internally, as well as improve delivery capacity and precision to our customers, says Meinkøhn.
